If there’s beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there
is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in
the nation, there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the
world.
Chinese Proverb
Reflection: To me this means that in the world one positive thing leads to
another and if everyone in the world does positive things there will be no
problems and everything that has happened will be fine. So having a beautiful character
has many benefits and one is having a positive life.
“The Six Pillars
of Character”
The six pillars of character are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility,
Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
Trustworthiness: Dependable or reliable. Ex:
The manager has gotten his trustworthiness with the owner.
Respect: To honor or have confidence in one.
Ex: I respect my elders.
Responsibility: Having a duty or having control over someone. Ex: It’s my
responsibility to throw away the trash.
Fairness: Being free from bias or injustice.
Ex: In all fairness I only did one page of homework.
Caring: Worrying for someone else besides yourself. Ex: My parents care for me.
Citizenship: The status of a person recognized under the custom or law as
being a member of a state. Ex: To show my
citizenship I vote.
Reflection: To me this means that all these things in life are nothing if
you do not have these characteristics.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”
Sophocles
To me this quote by Sophocles is saying that winning isn’t everything yes
it is a great thing but what matters the most is how you won. Cheating on a
game is like cheating on a final. Knowing you cheated is making you feel like you’re
no good. But if you fail and know you tried your hardest you will know that you
will have to practice harder next time you get the opportunity.
Memorial
Day
Memorial Day is a
federal holiday in the United States. Memorial Day is for remembering the
people who died while serving in the country's armed forces. The holiday is celebrated every year on the
last Monday of May. For many Americans, the central event is attending one of
the thousands of parades held on Memorial Day in large and small cities all
over the country.

Video Summary
Today we saw a man who did the right thing. He found an iPad with $13,000
dollars in it. Instead of keeping this he returned it to the authorities which
then found the owner. He was rewarded only $60 dollars but that money went to a
homeless woman and a friend of his. After his boss gave him $625 dollars for
doing something like this. To me this shows that if you do the right thing
something good will happen for you back.

“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon (self-worth),
integrity, and self-esteem.”
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
To me this quote by Dr. Laura Schlessinger is saying that there’s nothing
better than when you do the right thing because it just doesn’t help someone
else but it helps you. It makes you feel glad and happy for what you did to
help in the problem. It boosts your self-esteem and gives you integrity. I
agree with her because that’s the truth it does feel good when you help
someone.
LAUSD:
Student Life
Some of the services that LAUSD allows you to do are apply for are:
. Parent community service
· Post-Expulsion student services
· Student health and human services
· Pupil service
· Student medical service
· Student integration service
These services benefit me because it allows me to do something outside of
school and be more active around the community. Also, it helps others because
it gives them more chances for a brighter future. I will use parent community service
to get my parents involved even more for our community, and also Student medical
service because since I go to H.P.I.A.M this will help me learn more about the
medical field.

Summary
I think that Renee did I nice thing even though Eric took two people’s
lives. To me what Renee did was nice of her because even though he took her daughter’s
life and her daughters friends she forgave him. This was probably hard for her
because she probably had a lot of hate towards him for him drunk driving and
killing them but she somehow learned how to forgive. Also, now that Eric is out
he has traveled to high schools to talk about this sad story with Renee. You
might say why but it’s a good reason she’s showing them that you can forgive
anybody no matter what happened.

“When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.”
Alan Paton
Reflection: To me this quote by Alan Paton is saying that if anything
happens the best thing to do is not hold a grudge but forgives the person. Yes
they put you in a bad place or something bad happens but it doesn’t stay there
forever and why should your anger stay there. So what he is trying to say is
forgiving isn’t everything but it’s a step to getting better. An example could
be my sister losing my phone and me forgiving her because she would buy me a new
one.

“Dare to stand alone.”
Thomas S. Monson
Reflection: To me this quote by Thomas S. Monson is saying that you should choose
the right thing in any situation even if you are the only one. You can either
follow the person or be the leader. What he is saying is to be the leader
because as you get older you are going to have to make your own choices no
matter what the problem is.
University Of
Southern California
To get into USC there is no minimum requirement or absolute estimate for
grades, class rank or test scores.USC evaluates prospective students through
an individualized and comprehensive process. They also individual talents,
circumstances and opportunities vary greatly, so no specific curriculum is
prescribed or required. Some classes to take in high school to go into USC are:
Four years of English (composition and literature). Two years of foreign language.
Three years of mathematics (algebra, geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, or
calculus). Two years of natural science (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics). Two years
of social sciences (e.g., U.S. history, government, economics, geography).Three
years of additional courses in subjects above or academic electives (such as
computer science, art, music, speech).
Reflection: I would like to go to
USC because since I was small I’ve always been interested in it because of the
sports programs. But, as I have gotten older I want to go there for both but
especially for my education. I say this because growing up I thought it was
easy to get into a college but as I have learned it is earned. Hopefully when I
graduate high school I will be lucky enough to go there and live my dream from
my childhood.
